IFMA – CT Awards of Excellence Proposal

Awards and Selection Criteria:

Facility Manager of the Year

Connecticut facility manager who furthers the profession by… 

  • promoting facility management certification and education by providing education programs, publishing relevant articles and/or providing exceptional leadership in the profession by participating in two or more relevant professional organizations in leadership positions , and/or  
  • by recognition for successfully managing a highly efficient and sustainable facility presenting minimum impact to the environment and/or… 
  • by managing a facility over a period of at least 3 years that is recognized as one of the top ten places to work in Connecticut primarily due to the facility operations.  


Facility Management Associate of the Year

Connecticut based contractor, supplier or service provider who has provided exceptional service and products to Connecticut facilities over a period of at least 5 years. 


Chapter Member of the Year

Connecticut IFMA Chapter Member who… 

  • attended the most meetings and/or contributed at least 10 hours of volunteer time to chapter events and/or
  • represented the local chapter at the IFMA National or International level during the prior year. 


Innovation Award

IFMA special recognition criteria…

  • Award nominations should demonstrate creativity, quality, and innovation within the context of advancing and promoting Facility Management globally
  • Cover projects completed within 12 months prior to March of the year under review
  • Nominee must be an IFMA member and on the project team
  • Innovation should be focused on facilities or facilities practice
  • Collaboration between service providers and facility professionals is encouraged
  • Winner of the award will be expected to present an educational session regarding their submission at a chapter meeting.


Special Recognition

Special criteria as recommended by the Awards Committee or suggestion by the E-board or other chapter member.


How award recipients are selected and awards process:

  • Solicits nominees using various communication methods from IFMA-CT membership by October 1. 
  • Awards Committee (new – 3 or more members) reviews nominees and presents recommended award candidates (up to 5) to the IFMA-CT Executive Board for approval by the November Executive Board meeting. 
  • Awards Subcommittee purchases and receives awards and prepares all announcements and communications no later than the December Executive Board Meeting.
  • Award recipients are notified by letter from the chapter president and invited to January awards event no later than December 15.


When and Where Awards are given:

  • Annual Awards and Holiday Event typically held in January of the following year, 
  • Annual Awards Event Location or Special Event held at Facility Manager's place of work.

  • Hartford Business Journal, 
  • Awardee's local newspaper, 
  • Others as deemed appropriate
